Many people don’t realise that deleting e-mails can reduce carbon emissions. We use the five-a-day concept because most people associate it with something positive, which makes it easier to mobilise support for a joint endeavour to combat climate change.
Everyone can contribute
Kredinor has a sustainability plan which is continuously developed, and this internal campaign is equally relevant for our clients and their customers. If everyone reading this deletes five e-mails a day, we will contribute to a greener society.
Positive also financially
In addition to the environmental benefit, deleting an e-mail is also positive from an economic perspective, because storing e-mails costs a lot for most people and the business.
How to delete e-mails
An e-mail’s size has an impact on its environmental footprint – the larger the files deleted, the greater the impact of deleting them. Open your e-mail account and start with your inbox.
- Sort your e-mail folder by item size
- Delete the items you don’t need to keep
- Empty the “deleted items” or “trash” folder
Each of us can make a small difference, which – together – will have a huge impact.
